Center for AI for Science and Engineering
The Center is committed to integrating world-class expertise with cutting-edge AI capabilities to drive paradigm shifts in AI-empowered scientific research and transformative advances in engineering practice.
We advance both the foundations and applications of AI, accelerating computational efficiency, scientific discovery, and engineering innovation.
On the fundamental side, we pursue AI for Science and Science for AI: developing next-generation computer-aided engineering (CAE) solvers through operator learning, designing fast algorithms for large-scale simulation and optimization, and creating AI model architectures and training paradigms tailored to scientific and engineering workloads. Guided by mathematical insight and numerical analysis, we use scientific structure to design more efficient, robust AI models and training algorithms.
On the application side, we translate these advances into high-impact solutions across key domains:
- Health, including single-cell modeling and AI-enabled hospital systems;
- Energy, with a focus on AI-powered power grids;
- Scientific Embodied Robotics;
- The world of communication networks.
Together, these efforts establish an end-to-end pipeline—from core theory and algorithms to real-world deployment and societal impact.
