Center for AI for Social Science

The Center for AI for Social Science addresses the gap in current AI research that emphasizes "technical optimization while neglecting social context". It aims to transform research paradigms toward a multidimensional social intelligence framework that integrates "value alignment, social embedding, and cultural adaptation". The Center establishes a research framework consisting of three key components:

  1. A value-guidance mechanism grounded in normative ethics to establish an AI moral decision-making framework.
  2. A computational social science model integrating complex systems theory, focusing on digital representations of social systems, including digital governance simulation, multi-scale modeling, and social sensing.
  3. A cognitive computing framework incorporating cultural anthropology to study cultural semantic representation, adaptation mechanisms, and cultural diffusion modeling. Leveraging the strengths of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Center builds a triadic innovation system integrating ethical governance, social computation, and cultural cognition, providing technological support and demonstrative practices for national AI governance and global engagement.
