Wenqi Ren, PhD, is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Cyber Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Deputy Director of the MOE Key Laboratory of Information Technology, and recipient of the National Excellent Young Scientist Fund. He earned his PhD from Tianjin University & University of California, Merced (joint program) and previously worked at the Institute of Information Engineering, CAS. His research focuses on computer vision and AI safety. He has led multiple national projects (e.g., NSFC key/joint projects) and collaborations with Huawei, Tencent, etc. With over 100 papers in CCF-A top journals/conferences, his Google Scholar citations exceed 23,000 (highest single paper: 2,500+). A consecutive Elsevier China Highly Cited Researcher (3 years) and 2024 ScholarGPS Top 0.05% Global Scientist (Lifetime), he serves as Area Chair for CVPR/NeurIPS and AE for IEEE TIP.
