About the Speaker

Shaoying

Prof. Shaoying HUANG

Shaoying HUANG is an associate professor in Singapore University of Technology and Design. She holds a Ph.D., MS, and BE degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is pioneering the innovations and open-source efforts for portable MRI. She successfully organized the first MRI hackathon, ezyMRI NerdFest, in Asia. She is the co-chair of ISMRM (International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine) Singapore Chapter. She serves the ISMRM Annual Meeting Program Committee 2023 – 2025, IEEE AP/MTT Singapore Chapter since 2025, and the editorial boards of IEEE Transaction on AP and IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwaves in Medicine and Biology since 2020. She owns 10 patents and contribute to more than 70 refereed journal papers and 160+ international conference presentations and invited talks. Her current research focuses are low-field portable MRI (hardware & AI), non-linear MRI image reconstructions, MR electrical property tomography (MREPT), human-involved wireless power transfer, radiofrequency (RF)/microwave noninvasive/contactless vital sign sensing.

Abstract

You may wonder how soon an MRI scan can be done at your convenience rather than bearing with long waiting time now. Portable and dedicated MRI search and development has been an active research area, and recently being actively commercialized. This talk will detail the recent progress on the development of low-field portable MRI, both research and commercialization, and the role of AI in this domain. The impacts of portable MRI to future healthcare will be discussed.
