Biography

Wang Dong, an Assistant Professor and Presidential Young Scholar at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Sichuan University in 2013 and his Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2017. His research focuses on mathematical modeling for a range of practical applications such as materials, imaging, and topology optimization, the design of high-performance algorithms and related theories, machine learning algorithms for solving partial differential equations, and artificial intelligence algorithms for constrained optimization problems. To date, he has published over 40 papers in top-tier applied mathematics journals (e.g., Math Comp, SIAM series, J. Comput. Phys., etc.) and has led several national, provincial, and municipal projects, including the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund and the Shenzhen Excellent Young Scientists Fund. He has been selected for the Youth Talent Lift Project of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and has received awards such as the Best Doctoral Thesis Award from the Hong Kong Mathematical Society and the Best Paper Award from the East Asian Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
