SLAI Approved to Establish Branch Station of Shenzhen Postdoctoral Enterprise Workstation

August 20, 2026 News

In August 2026, the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality officially issued the Notice on Approving Shenzhen Loop Area Institute to Establish a Branch Station of Shenzhen Postdoctoral Enterprise Workstation . Following a rigorously multi-stage review process involving documentation verification and on-site evaluation, Shenzhen Loop Area Institute (SLAI) was officially approved to establish a Branch Station of Shenzhen Postdoctoral Enterprise Workstation.

Since launching its academic operations in September 2025, SLAI has successfully incorporated into the national postdoctoral work management system in less than a year through stringent selection processes. This milestone represents a significant step in SLAI's strategic deployment for high-level talents, demonstrating "Shenzhen Speed" in building talent platforms.

The Branch Station of Shenzhen Postdoctoral Enterprise Workstation is a key-designated innovation platform in Shenzhen for cultivating high-level talents and tackling core technologies. It maintains high entry barriers regarding research foundations, R&D capabilities, industry-university-research synergy, talent management systems, and research hardware facilities. As an experimental zone for elite AI talent cultivation, SLAI prioritized building a team of high-level young researchers from its inception. By collaborating with joint universities housing postdoctoral mobile stations, SLAI rapidly established robust mechanisms for talent management, research support, and achievement incentives. Securing this approval within less than a year of operation highlights SLAI's tangible achievements in platform building and talent aggregation.

The official approval will empower SLAI's high-quality development across four dimensions:

● Global Talent Recruitment: SLAI will leverage the Branch Station status to recruit top AI doctoral talents worldwide. By linking with mobile stations at partner universities and exploring joint training mechanisms with universities in Hong Kong and Macao, SLAI aims to build a talent hub for postdoctoral researchers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), providing a solid talent reserve for Shenzhen's goal to become a global AI innovation source.

● Original Research & Key Breakthroughs: SLAI focuses on core directions including AI theory and systems, full-duplex speech foundation models, multimodal foundation models, embodied intelligence, AI for Science and Engineering, and brain-inspired intelligence. By unleashing the energy of postdoctoral researchers, SLAI drives "0 to 1" foundational and disruptive innovations, targeting strategic AI frontiers to produce landmark scientific achievements.

● Technology Transfer & Commercialization: Leveraging the location advantage of the Hetao Shenzhen–Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (HTCZ), SLAI explores an "Academic Supervisor + Industry Supervisor" postdoctoral training model. This clears the path for converting research findings into practical applications in the GBA's AI industry, promoting deep integration among innovation, talent, and industrial chains.

● Full-Cycle Support & Ecosystem: SLAI will implement a full-cycle management system for postdoctoral researchers, providing comprehensive support in research resources, laboratory spaces, living amenities, and high-performance computing clusters. Accompanied by housing and healthcare benefits, SLAI fosters a top-tier research ecosystem.

Moving forward, SLAI will strictly implement Shenzhen's postdoctoral management regulations and fulfill its primary responsibility for cultivation and management at the branch station. SLAI will continuously refine standardized operations, expand cooperation networks with mobile stations at key national universities and research institutes, enhance research infrastructure, and increase research investment. SLAI aims to recruit outstanding doctoral graduates globally with exceptional research skills, international vision, and professional foresight, providing strong support for original research and industrial application.

SLAI will fully leverage the cross-border collaborative innovation advantages of HTCZ. Using the branch station as a key driver, SLAI strives to build a world-class postdoctoral talent benchmark platform featuring Shenzhen-Hong Kong synergy and industry-research integration, contributing continuous innovative momentum to Shenzhen's greater self-reliance and strength in S&T and the high-quality development of GBA AI industry.
