Biography

Dr. Wei-Shi Zheng is a Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, a Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor, an IAPR Fellow, and a Newton Advanced Fellow of the Royal Society, UK. He is also Deputy Dean of Shenzhen Loop Area Institute (SLAI). He currently serves as Deputy Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Sun Yat-sen University, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Machine Intelligence and Advanced Computing, Ministry of Education.

He has published more than 200 papers in CCF-A class venues and Nature partner journals, including over 30 papers in IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (T-PAMI), International Journal of Computer Vision (IJCV), ACM SIGGRAPH, and Nature family journals. He serves on the editorial boards of IEEE T-PAMI and the Artificial Intelligence Journal (AIJ).

As the Principal Investigator, he has led key projects including the Key Program of the Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National Excellent Youth Science Fund Project, the National Key R&D Program of China, Key Topics of the Major Joint Program of NSFC, and the Outstanding Youth Team Project of the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation.

Research collaborations in embodied intelligence, multi-agent systems, world models, and generative AI are warmly welcomed, as well as applications from outstanding prospective students.
